The chickens, ducks, and quail are humanely raised by us in Wisconsin, and the eggs are hand-collected. Combining eggshells from different species provides an even greater variety of nutrients and minerals.
Included with the eggshells are all of their membranes to support joint and connective tissue health. Eggshells are made up of about 95% calcium carbonate, which is highly bioavailable and can help firm up stools. Minerals in eggshells, like magnesium and phosphorus, can support a shiny coat, strong nails, and healthy skin. Egg membranes naturally contain collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and elastin, which are commonly found in joint supplements.
We rinse and air-dry the eggshells before freeze drying them. This is a drying process called lyophilization. Water (ice) is put under pressure and removed through sublimation. Freeze drying retains about 97% of nutrients, whereas dehydrating only retains 60-70%.
